Hi! My name is Natalie D. Woods. I am a sophomore attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I am hoping to receive my degree in Early Childhood/ Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish. I am a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and the UAB Gospel Choir. I am also the secretary and co-chair of the membership committee for the Multicultural Scholars Program.
I believe that integrating technology into teaching is a wonderful addition to the classroom. The Internet, for example, will provide me with immense amounts of resources. These can range from unit plans to online videos that provide students with additional learning for several subjects. I plan to use technology in my classroom in the future. In addition to the two previous examples, I can also use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Publisher to create paper communication between myself and parents. (This can also be done via another technology tool, email.)
There are three things that I expect to learn from EDT 300. The first is how to use more technology and media tools available that will aide all of my students. For example, no two children in the classroom will learn at the same speed/level. Therefore, I would like to learn of different methods using technology that have been proven to be successful in the classroom. Also, I would like to learn how to create a web page for my classroom. Thirdly, I would like to learn a little more about how to actually use the computer to create unit and lesson plans. Although we are creating a unit plan in class, I’m really not sure of the correct way to do one. So far, this class has been very enjoyable.
